P. Diddy, Nelly and Usher were forced to run for their lives when gunfire broke out at a party in Atlanta. The event at Club Dream in Georgia on Friday night (01.08.08) - hosted by Janet Jackson’s boyfriend Jermaine Dupri – was interrupted when an unknown male pulled out a gun and began shooting erratically after he was double-charged by a security guard when trying to enter the VIP area. Following the incident, which Jermaine hosted to kick-off his annual So So Def SummerFest, the music producer said: “I'm sad this incident happened because it interrupted a beautiful and loving party. But I'm happy none of my people or friends got hurt. And the party continues.” While no celebrity guests were injured in the shooting, the gunman shot one of the club’s security guards in the arm. The guard was taken to hospital for treatment before being released. Police are still interviewing witnesses in a bid to determine the identity of the shooter.

Missy Elliott is planning to adopt children because she is so terrified of giving birth. The 'Get Ur Freak On’ singer – who is notoriously guarded about her private life – admits she wants to have a family but is scared about the pain involved in a natural birth. She said: 'I most definitely want kids, but I’ll probably adopt. I don’t know if I can take the kind of pain women go through with childbirth. 'Maybe in the year 2020 you could just pop a baby out and it’d be fine. But right now I’d rather just adopt.' Missy, 37, also revealed she keeps in shape by playing on the computer game 'Dance Dance Revolution’ in amusement arcades. She added to People magazine: 'I do 'Dance Dance Revolution’. I'm not as good as the little kids that come in the arcade. Their little feet go crazy fast. I'm not that fast, but I'm good on it!"

Despite the lavish new home, Mariah is also setting her sights on buying another property. Goo Goo Dolls have recorded a brand new single 'Real’ which will be available on iTunes in the UK and Europe only on 22nd September 2008. 'Real’ was recorded with producer Greg Wattenberg in the band’s studio in Buffalo and is their first new song since the album 'Let Love In' in 2006. On working with Greg, John Rzeznik says, 'Greg is really great, he knows how to engineer, he’s a songwriter and he’s written some really big hits and he’s very hands-on. We had a great time collaborating together.' The band premiered 'Real' on their main stage appearance at the O2 Wireless Festival in London’s Hyde Park. This show proved to be the populist choice as this day sold out in record time ahead of the remaining Wireless dates. They have also completed another sold out tour of the UK. The band’s vocalist John Rzeznik was the recipient of the Hal David Starlight Awards at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards in June this year. Hal David said, "John Rzeznik is well-deserving of the Starlight Award, not only shining as an outstanding, talented songwriter, but one with a unique vision. We are pleased to honour him with this prestigious award." The Goo Goo Dolls have sold 10 million records worldwide and have been nominated for four Grammys and an MTV Video Award.

Oasis will embark upon a huge world tour later this year, according to reports. If the rumours are to be believed, the tour could see them reprising their 2000 shows at London’s Wembley Stadium. Initial details of the epic jaunt appeared in the Sun newspaper today, with a source claiming the Mancunian band could be on the road for well over a year. "The tour is bigger than anything the band have done before," the source - who also mentions a possible show at the City of Manchester Stadium - is quoted as saying. "They will be on the road for more than a year - possibly pushing 18 months. "The dates could easily run into three figures and will take them around the world. It is on the kind of scale you would expect from The Rolling Stones." Apparently due to begin in the UK this October, the shows may coincide with the release of new Oasis album "Dig Out Your Soul" on October 6. A single, "The Shock of the Lightning", is expected a week earlier.

The new album from Kaiser Chiefs will arrive later this year. "Off With Their Heads", the band’s third full-length record, will be released on October 13. It was produced by Mark Ronson and Eliot James. The follow-up to last year’s "Yours Truly, Angry Mob" will feature guest appearances from Lily Allen, New Young Pony Club and London MC Sway. Another contributor is English composer David Arnold, who won a Grammy for his work on "Independence Day" and worked with the band at the BBC Electric Proms last year. Drummer Nick Hodgson was effusive in his praise of producer Ronson, who has famously worked with Amy Winehouse in the past. "Mark’s main thing is songs," Hodgson told NME. "He’s old-fashioned Phil Spector-style. "Sometimes he’d make us all wear sunglasses in the studio! I know it sounds stupid, but we did "Good Days Bad Days" and wearing sunglasses gave it a really different vibe." The track said to feature Allen and members of New Young Pony Club is called "Never Miss a Beat", and it will be released as a single on October 6.

The Killers will release a new album this year, according to initial reports. The provisional title for the follow-up to 2006 effort “Sam’s Town” is “Day and Age”, though a spokeswoman for the band has stressed that name is yet to be confirmed. Pencilled in for a November release, the Las Vegas quartet have been previewing two new tracks from the album on their ongoing tour of North America. Videos of “Spaceman” and “Neon Tiger” - the lyrics from which the longplayer’s working title is thought to be pulled – are streaming now at YouTube. The band intend to finish the album with producer Stuart Price by the time they headline the Reading and Leeds festivals on August 23 and 24 respectively.

Most of The Jackson 5 have agreed to reunite to perform live at an awards show next month, according to reports. The BMI Urban Awards will name the five Jackson brothers ‘BMI Icons’ at the ceremony in Beverly Hills on September 4. The group plan to mark the occasion by headlining above an all-star tribute cast. One barrier to a full reunion could be Michael Jackson, the most famous former member, who is thought to be the only brother yet to confirm his attendance. Rumours of a reunion have abounded since March last year, when Michael Jackson’s attorney Brian Oxman confirmed the band were in talks over a series of Las Vegas shows.

Rihanna has sparked rumours she is engaged to R+B singer Chris Brown after she was photographed wearing a diamond ring on her wedding finger. The Bajan beauty has been romantically linked to the Kiss Kiss hitmaker for months, but both singers have continually denied they are a couple, despite being snapped in public kissing and cuddling. The pair stepped up speculation about their relationship last week when they were snapped frolicking in a hot tub together in Los Angeles. And now Rihanna has fuelled rumours that they are to walk down the aisle after she was snapped sporting a ring on her left hand.

The new album features some extraordinary collaborators including producers Cool & Dre (Yung Joc, Young Jeezy, The Game) and the Geneva, NY-based band’s long time friend and collaborator, Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy. Busta Rhymes, the UK’s finest - Estelle and the legendary Daryl Hall also make an appearance on the set. Troubled pop star Britney Spears will have another chance to storm the MTV stage, after receiving a nomination for this year's Video Music Awards. The star has been nominated by network bosses in the category of Best Female Video for her hit single Piece of Me, competing alongside a list of music's top female rockers. The Toxic hitmaker has rocked audiences with a series of shocking performances at the outlandish awards show. Five years ago, she wowed viewers when she locked lips with Madonna during a duet. And she made a disastrous comeback attempt at last year's show, baring her belly and stumbling across the stage. The MTV VMAs show is set to air in the US on 7 September.

Fashion giant Louis Vuitton has won its battle to stop stars like Britney Spears, rapper Da Brat and American Idol winner Ruben Studdard from using its logo. Bosses of the French brand sued Sony BMG Music Entertainment executives after their artists posed with the LV monogram in promotional material. And on Thursday (31Jul08), after five years of legal wranglings, the fashion company was awarded an undisclosed out-of-court settlement. Sony BMG heads have promised to "educate its record labels" about copyright laws, according to the New York Daily News. And Louis Vuitton's representative Nathalie Moulle-Berteaux says, "We believe the terms of this agreement will provide strong protection to our brand worldwide." Several pop stars have used the fashion firm's logo in their videos: Spears rode in a Hummer with an LV monogrammed dashboard in her 2006 Do Somethin' promo; Da Brat had a beachball sporting the LV logo, and Studdard used the design on his album cover for 2006's The Return.

Swedish pop sensation Abba made UK chart history with the return of their greatest hits album to the number one spot. First released 16 years ago, Gold - Greatest Hits is the oldest album ever to reach number one, The Official Charts Company revealed. It is the fourth biggest-selling album of all time in the UK and one of the top 40 worldwide, with sales topping 26 million, the company said. It is the fifth time that Gold - Greatest Hits has topped the UK chart, and the second time that the band has achieved a number one selling album in the last few weeks. The soundtrack to the hit Abba-inspired film Mamma Mia! took the top spot in July. The album's success saw Coldplay's Viva la Vida pushed down one place to number two. Meanwhile in the UK singles chart, American musician Kid Rock took the top spot, ending rapper Dizzee Rascal's four-week reign. Kid Rock's catchy All Summer Long moved up one place, knocking Dizzee Rascal's Dance Wiv Me down to number two. Kid Rock also saw success in the official album's chart, with Rock N Roll Jesus jumping more than 140 places to number four. Another US musician celebrating success in the singles chart was Katy Perry, whose popular track I Kissed A Girl shot to number four from position 139. Actress Liv Tyler hopes to follow in the footsteps of her rocker father Steven Tyler by launching a singing career. The Incredible Hulk star plans to fulfill a lifelong ambition of singing onstage - just like her Aerosmith star father. And she hopes to make her stage debut in a New York musical. She says, "I would love to do a musical - like on Broadway. That's like the dream of my whole life. "I always wanted to be a singer. Or get to sing. I haven't been able to do that, and I would love to do that."

Jessica Simpson claims she has been abused. The 'Come on Over’ singer made the startling confession in a candid interview, although she refused to go into any further details. When asked by America's Elle magazine if she had ever been physically abused, the singer said: 'I don't want to talk about it, but I have definitely experienced abuse in a way that I would tell people to take their heart and run.' The star revealed all the songs on her forthcoming country album 'Do You Know’ – which she worked on with legendary country singer Dolly Parton – are autobiographical. New track 'Remember That’ includes the lyrics: 'It doesn't matter how he hurts you, With his hands or with his words, You don't deserve it, It ain't worth it, Take your heart and run.' The singer has previously revealed she was viciously bullied while at school, with those responsible even attacking her home. She said: 'I would walk down the school halls and hear people talking about me. Some of them would throw toilet paper at my house or throw eggs at my door. 'They would also write things on the sidewalk in permanent marker. They really hated me.'

Justin Timberlake has slammed Ashton Kutcher for stealing his style credit. The 27-year-old singer insists he should be recognised for making trucker caps fashionable because he started wearing them long before 'What Happens In Vegas' star Ashton. Justin said: "It's funny, I keep hearing Ashton Kutcher say how he was responsible for trucker caps. Me and my friend Trace Ayala were wearing them when we were seventeen." Although Justin likes experimenting with different styles, he doesn't see himself as a trendsetter. He added: "Honestly, I don't walk out of my house thinking, Man, I hope somebody thinks this looks cool!' "There's some stuff I wear that people think is not cool." Justin - who launched the William Rast denim line with pal Trace in 2005 - also revealed he has designed a new collection with Swedish fashion designer Johan Lindeberg. He explained: "It is Southern heritage meets forward European innovation. I don't want to be Mr 'SexyBack' forever." Justin is set to perform at the Fashion Rocks concert - which celebrates the relationship between fashion and music - at New York's Radio City Music Hall on September 5. Beyonce Knowles, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban, the Pussycat Dolls and Timbaland are also scheduled to appear.
